vegetation 43 years after fire, grass and shrub layer, post fire vegetation, Vegetation, Val dal Fuorn
This vegetation layer represents the vegetation situation in 1994/95 where the inventorying took place and can be used for further post fire vegetation monitoring and vegetation dynamics in general, but also wildlife habitat analysis.
The data set 'veg_br_fuorn' represents the vegetation data inventory of the burnt patch just east of the Hotel il Fuorn in the Fuorn Valley (Openpass, Swiss National Park). In 1994/95 more than 140 plots (2 m2 each, vascular plants only) were carried out in a 25 m grid covering the whole burnt area. Abundance was estimated on a seven-part, logarithimic scale. The plots were analysed using the Mulva4-applicaton, developed by Wildi & Orloci in 1990, in order to identify mapping units and to produce a floristic map. For details please refer to Geissler, P. & Hartmann, J., 2000: Vegetation dynamics in a mountain pine stand burnt down in 1951, In: Schütz, M., Krüsi, B.O., Edwards, P.J.
